THE HONORABLE FEW

How pitiful so many of us are, especially with the remedy so close, available to all.

To act alone in pursuit of truth, to re establish honor for yourself or someone else is the work of men.

In contradiction to those around you, being of singular mind as others will try to advise you with their malfeasance is somehow of a higher calling, yet there are none.

To be alone now to split from the herd while holding firmly to that fundamental thing, that essence that serves you so well. You know in advance it will deliver pride, if just in your own mind, eventually with the respect that always follows. To have just been one of them and seen with your own eyes an injustice causing a person to be stripped of their honor or respect owed. To not act and just fall in line. What you knew then was wanted by most but held honor for none. It did not in the end cost you, instead brought you a rare grade of respect that can only form over time, known only to a few. This man need claim nothing as he fully understands how any other way would diminish his character and remove what he has learned must always be the priority. Though along with that sense of contentment with oneself is an ingredient of sadness when one considers whether through upbringing, education or circumstance few find or maintain what must be accomplished. It can be found, it can be taught to those with enough character to build on. To come to it not from it is the single best feeling one can have. Honor, respect, honesty, kindness and sacrifice when offered reliably even at one’s own cost or perhaps even because of, is I believe the highest level in life any individual can attain.
